NDT Technician Level 3 - UT

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an NDT Technician Level 3 - UT to join our Materials Lab/NDT team at our site in Crewkerne, Somerset.

This role has technical responsibility for Ultrasonic Testing facilities and work activity, whilst also carrying out a hands-on NDT role for the acceptance of parts. You must have experience of working with composite materials in a manufacturing environment (preferably Aerospace).

This role follows a day shift pattern and will work in a factory/materials lab environment.

The role

Daily work activities will include:

 - Interpreting codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s) used by the Company to select the appropriate method and technique for a specific inspection.

 - Preparation, verification and approval of the adequacy of procedures, work instructions and techniques.

 - Supporting (and supervision as appropriate) Level 2 UT Technician work activity.

 - Providing or directing training, examination, and certification of employees and support their performance management.

 - Undertaking contract reviews, reviewing and signing Manufacturing Instructions/route cards, raising non-conformance reports for NDT-related subjects.

 - Maintaining test records and analysis of results to ensure traceabilty requirements and to demonstrate proficiency.

 - Ensuring at all times that the test equipment and test procedures are used within the agreed safety procedures /guidelines. Review and evaluate new equipment.

 - Supporting all Materials Laboratory functions, promote and develop a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

The person

You will have:

 - Current certification to EN4179/NAS410 Level 3 UT

 - General knowledge of other NDT methods and manufacture and inspection technologies

 - Experience of working with composite materials in a manufacturing environment (preferably Aerospace)

 - The ability to develop and write UT Techniques

 - Experience of Bond Testing advantageous

 - A high level of accuracy, strong attention to detail and methodical approach; the ability to write thorough and clear reports

 - The ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately keep records

 - A good level of computer literacy, Windows based

 - A strong team player approach with a flexible attitude to work load and a continuous improvement mind-set

 - A safety-conscious approach to work

 - A high level of reliability, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
