Quality Engineer

Job Description

We are a market leader in Aerospace composite manufacturing, working with exciting technologies and materials to design and build advanced composite structural components and assemblies. We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Quality team at our sites in Crewkerne, Somerset.

This role is responsible for supporting the Head of Quality with ensuring that all Company Customer and Regulatory Approval requirements are implemented, managed, monitored, and assured; maintaining and further developing the Business processes and procedures to meet the requirements of ISO9001, AS9100, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, NADCAP AC7114, and AC7118.

This role follows a day shift pattern and will work between a factory and office environment.

The role

Your work activities will include to:

  • conduct assigned Internal Quality & Special Process Audits in accordance with the published Audit Schedule; against ISO9001, AS9100, NADCAP AC7118 and Customer requirements
  • assess working practices, manufacturing documentation, operator training, records, reports & competence against specific requirements
  • coordinate Impact Review Process – review external specifications and regulations against current working practice to determine and plan for internal impact
  • work with Operations, Quality and Engineering teams to identify improvement actions necessary to maintain compliance
  • support Customer and Regulatory 3rd Party Audit Activities of IMS & Special Processes; supporting the review of audit findings & supporting NCR Owners with closure actions
  • support the review and development of IMS processes to obtain and/or maintain Customer and Regulatory approvals
  • support the review and measurement of process effectiveness of IMS processes
  • prepare Quality Plans as required and maintain throughout the duration of the Contracts
  • provide support during Root Cause Corrective Action activities – product & process related
  • represent Quality Function at Bid & Project Review Meetings
  • support the administration & coordination of the Concessions and SMDRs processes
  • support the administration & coordination of the Approved Stamp Control process
  • ensure Quality requirements are reviewed, clarified and agreed during Bid, Contract and Impact Review
  • ensure Customer Acceptance Criteria is understood and compliant for all new product (NPI)
  • First Article Inspection Reports to AS9102 requirements

The person

You will have:

  • significant experience with the ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality Management System preferably in an aerospace or automotive environment.
  • recognised qualification in Management System auditing.
  • NADCAP experience/awareness (AC7114 and AC7118).
  • the ability to communicate assertively and professionally at all levels with internal & external contacts
  • high levels of accuracy, strong attention to detail and methodical approach; able to write thorough and clear reports.
  • a results-driven approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities, working to tight deadlines.
  • computer literate, Windows based.
  • a good team player approach with a flexible attitude to work load.
